We created our own bone carving necklaces and learnt about different Maori symbols.
We began by drawing some different symbols. Our challenge was to persevere because it was tricky and we needed to try again and again.
After that we practised making our chosen design out of play dough.
Next it was time to create our necklace out of a special dough we would cook.
We needed to persevere to make the shape we wanted.
We put a hole in our necklace to thread string in later and let our creations cook.
When they were cooked we painted over a wash of PVA and water to seal them. It also made them look a bit shiny.
Here are some of our amazing necklaces.
Dough recipe coming soon :)
Nice persevering Kakabeak whanau, It looks like you had to work really hard to complete your necklace and the necklaces look great. Fantastic job.
